GPS World, March, 2005
Professor Jingnan Liu, president of Wuhan University and director of the China National Engineering Research Center for Satellite Positioning Systems, has joined the GPS World Editorial Advisory Board.
Prof. Liu graduated from the former Wuhan College of Surveying and Mapping (Wuhan, China) in 1967 and gained a master's degree there in 1982. In 1999, he was named an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Prof. Liu has long been engaged in theoretical research and applications of geodetic reference frames and the Global Positioning System, with notable achievements in related software development, data processing, and engineering applications. He completed data processing of China's National Order-A and Order-B High Precision GPS Network and has organized wide area differential GPS experiments.

His efforts include the general design and software development of the GPS automatic monitoring system on Geheyan Dam, which is credited with playing a key role in preventing a potential flooding disaster on the Yangtze River in 1998. Prof. Liu's professional activities have earned him numerous prizes and awards from the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping and other agencies. He has authored more than 30 journal articles on such topics as airborne laser altimetry, crustal deformation monitoring, and high-precision GPS reference networks.
Prof. Liu is a member of the Science and Technology Commission of the State Ministry of Education, vice-director of the Hubei Astronomy Society, editor of the journal Surveying and Mapping, and a coordinator of the International GPS Geodynamics Service.
Currently, Prof. Liu is engaged in developing advanced techniques for precise point positioning and real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning.
The Editorial Advisory Board of GPS World is composed of prominent figures in research, development, and applications of the Global Positioning System. They recommend article topics and prospective authors, advise on technical questions and industry trends, and critique magazine content and design.
