Trimble equips wireless modems

GPS World, April, 2005

Blue Tree Wireless Data Inc. of Montreal, Canada, has integrated the Lassen SQ module from Trimble (Sunnyvale, California) into its 5000 GPS Series of wireless modems. The Blue Tree 5200 CDMA and the Blue Tree 5400 GPRS are designed for use over the cellular CDMA/1XRTT (800/1900 MHz) and GSM/GPRS (850/1900 MHz) data networks, respectively. The modems' receivers support TAIP and NMEA 0183 message protocols.

The modems collect, store and send GPS position over the wireless network to a host server or mobile computer connected via mapping software. They also manage GPS data reporting when users are in and out of coverage, to ensure accurate tracking for vehicle and asset management in public safety and field service.
