SiRF'n partners to telematicize Fiat

GPS World, April, 2005

SiRF Technology, Samsung Electronics, Siemens, ScanSoft, Xilinx, Magneti Marelli, and Microsoft Corp's Automotive Business Unit are collaborating to design an entry-level, low cost telematics solution for all Fiat Auto's Fiat, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo brands. The system will give drivers hands-free communication and access to Web services for off-board navigation and real time traffic information.

The SiRFstarllt chipset will share the host system's processor and memory resources, minimizing both cost and required circuit board area. The chipset will send raw GPS position and time information to the host processor operating with the SiRFNav software parallel to host applications.
