GPS World, April, 2005

QinetiQ (Hampshire, United Kingdom) has developed a miniature freight-tracking system based on its Q20 High Sensitivity (HS) GPS receiver and Global Point's wireless communications and operating software. The system reportedly requires no visible antenna and can be fitted to any moveable asset such as a tractors, vehicles, pallets, or containers.

Qinetiq's L1 12-channel GPS H20 module measures 22 X 26.5 X 3.3 millimeters, has RF sensitivity of -180dBW (acquisition) and -185dBW (tracking), with reported 5-meter outdoor and 50-meter indoor accuracy. Other partners in the mini-freight module include Durham University and the Centre of Excellence for Nanotechnology, Micro and Photonic Systems.
