Leveraging its 25-year legacy of providing advanced militarized GPS solutions and recent research and development initiatives, Rockwell Collins is providing creative solutions to the warfighter's needs. Rockwell Collins was the first in the industry to receive security approval and is currently in full-scale production of a selective availability anti-spoofing module (SAASM) that incorporates the latest generation of precise positioning service (PPS) security. Rockwell Collins recently received security approval for SAASM cryptographic operational software, making it the first company in the industry to receive this approval without platform restrictions.
Major Products
Over the next five years, the military GPS market segment will see tremendous growth. Rockwell Collins' involvement in key programs and technologies includes Defense Advanced GPS Receivers (DAGR), modernized user equipment (MUE) and multiple precision-guided munitions programs incorporating new anti-jam techniques.
Rockwell Collins continues to make GPS receivers more compact and lightweight. Twenty-five years ago, a state-of-the-art GPS system would fill a small room and weigh several hundred pounds. Today's systems, with considerably more capabilities, will fit in the palm of a hand. Soon, application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) technology will take the core GPS engine down to a few chips.
Whether it is used for network synchronization or situational awareness, GPS can now be inserted in virtually all electronic warfare solutions. Programs like Land Warrior, Future Combat Systems and Joint Tactical Radio System will reap the benefit. The marriage of GPS with microelectromechanical system (MEMS) inertials and other navigation sensors will give warfighters access to seamless navigation in all environments. Additional improvements in enemy deniability of the GPS and improvements in antijam capability for our military users and allies are also expected to be key areas of focus.
Rockwell Collins is committed to these overall advancements in GPS and navigation technologies that will further safeguard, and provide leverage and advantage to, our warfighters.
