San Jose, California-based software supplier Telcontar will incorporate its Drill Down Server spatial software plat-form in the "gpmobile" smart-phone navigation application from gpware of Menlo Park, California.
gpmobile is a GPS- and speech-enabled mobile navigation service, running over wireless networks and smart-phones, including the Nokia 3650 and Sony Ericsson P800/P900. Subscribers speak a destination into their phone; the gpmobile service determines an optimized route to the requested destination and begins providing turn-by-turn audio and visual screen prompts from the phone, gpmobile provides users with directions and route planning in multiple languages, allowing the subscriber to navigate in the United States and Europe. The service also enables users to share maps and routes with their contacts, as well as obtain points of interest and information from Outlook.

Telcontar's Drill Down Server spatial platform provides routing, proximity searching, geocoding, image display and other functionality for navigation, mapping, yellow pages, fleet tracking, trip planning, real-time traffic information, emergency roadside assistance and concierge services. The software enables a variety of location-based applications that can be accessed using Internet browsers, cell phones, call centers, Pocket PCs, PDAs and in-vehicle telematics units.
