Global Wine, California style - Currents

Cheers, Jan-Feb, 2002

Wine companies are getting savvier about their role in guiding wine knowledge and service in restaurants integrating training in wine and food. Moving into its third year, the Brown-Forman Center for Global Wine Education has set its 2002 course dates to help get wine professionals the tools to create more useful wine lists and on-premise selling programs.

The program explores the subtleties of terroir, craftsmanship, viticulture, viniculture, cooperage and food and wine pairings over a three day session. John Ash, noted chef and director of food and wine education for Brown-Forman, and Karen Mac Neil-Fife head up the programs. Sessions run March 10 - 13, May 19 - 22, August 18 - 21, September 22 - 25, and October 20 - 23. For more info, contact Colleen Stewart, Brown-Forman Center, Box 611, Hopland, CA 95449, 704744 7421.
