Cheers, May, 2008
Absolut Vodka still is the most popular spirit call at restaurants and bars, according to the recently released 2007 Cheers On-Premise Handbook, published by The Beverage Information Group, formerly the Adams Beverage Group. Of the more than 2,000 bartenders and bar managers in 31 key metropolitan markets who were surveyed, 36.1 percent said Absolut was the most often requested spirit last year. Nipping on Absolut's heels is Bacardi, with 30.4 percent, Jack Daniel's, with 28.5 percent, and Grey Goose, with 27 percent (bartenders were asked to rate the top three most requested spirits, so totals equal more than 100). Also popular are Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, Crown Royal, Stolichnaya, Ketel One and Tanqueray.
