Toro's electric utility vehicle
Outdoor Power Equipment, August, 2005
Based on the Toro Workman mid-duty 1100/2100/2110 platform, the Workman e2050 electric utility vehicle offers high performance and versatility with the convenience and low maintenance of electric power. It boasts a 500-amp drivetrain for climbing hills under all load conditions and a longer runtime between each charge. The Workman e2050 has a fuel gauge that displays the current level of battery power. When the battery levels become significantly low, the unit limits top speed and acceleration, alerting the operator to locate a charging location. The Workman e2050 also has regenerative braking for superior stopping and efficient operation. For additional safety, a plug detector stops the unit from operating when plugged in for recharging, and a runaway protection indicator applies the brake and sounds off if the unit ever rolls down a hill without the operator depressing the accelerator. It also has a supervisor switch that controls the maximum speed that the vehicle can be driven. Other benefits of the environmentally friendly Workman e2050 include quiet operation and low operating expenses.
