New for 2002, BoatU.S. members may go online to BoatUS.com to renew their membership, update their records or select higher option towing. Members interested in supporting boating safety and environmental programs can even make a contribution to the BoatU.S. Foundation online. As a bonus for renewing online, between now and July 1 you will be automatically entered to win a handheld Garmin GPS 76, with a retail value of $220.

Simply go to BoatUS.com/membership and click on the Renew button. You can select from four levels of higher option towing and chose any donation amount you wish. After you click the "submit" button, you will get a confirmation that your renewal application has been received.

BoatU.S. members are encouraged to renew online as electronic renewals are much cheaper than processing paper and will help keep Association dues low.

Keep Up with the News

The BoatU.S. Government Affairs office has added a new link to the Web site to enable members to comment on proposed new federal rules and regulations published in the Federal Register. Most notices include a public comment period and some are as short as only 30 days. For members interested in voicing their comments on boating and fishing issues directly to the agencies in charge, go to www.BoatUS.com/gov and click on the bar at the bottom of the home page.

New Look for Cards

The BoatU.S MasterCard sponsored by MBNA America Bank now features two new scenic PlatinumPlus credit cards. Show your support and love of boating by choosing the card that depicts an exhilarating ride on a powerboat or the card that features a sailboat with spinnaker flying.

Not only do these cards look great, they also save members an additional 3% on purchases on equipment and services from any BoatU.S. Marine Center, the online store and through catalog sales. It even applies to all purchases made at BoatU.S. Cooperating Marinas.

This 3% credit rebate is in addition to Member Rewards and existing discounts at Cooperating Marinas. Simply highlight the eligible purchases on your credit card statement and return to MBNA and the 3% rebate will appear on your next complete billing statement.

California Openings

On June 1, BoatU.S. members will have two new Marine Centers to serve them in northern California. Both grand openings will be held on the same day for stores in Sausolito and Oakland. The addresses are: 1820 Embarcadero Ave., Unit #12, Oakland, CA 94606; and 120 Donahue St., Mann City, CA 94965.
