With a 35-year history of producing four-stroke marine engines, Honda is the granddaddy of "new technology" outboards. (American Honda Motor Corp., 800-426-7701, www.honda-marine.com) Honda's programmed electronic fuel injection is found on its entire lineup of 15 models beginning with a 2 hp and ranging up to a 225-hp V-6 engine.

Weights (and retail prices) range from 373 lbs. for 75 hp ($9,500), 458 lbs. for 130 hp ($12,000) to 588 lbs. for 225 hp ($17,500).
