Yamaha - Who Makes What

Boat/US Magazine, July, 2002

This company makes everything, from outboards to keyboards. Diversity is reflected in its engine lineup, which includes carbureted engines, direct-injection two-strokes and a wide range of four-strokes. (Yamaha Motor Corp., 800-962-7926, www.yamaha-motor.com)

Two-stroke Yamahas range from a carbureted 2-hp one-cylinder engine up to a 250-hp V-6 using HDPI or high pressure (700 psi) direct injection. Four strokes run the gamut from 4.4-hp to 225-hp V-6. Sample weights (and retail prices) for Yamaha's two-strokes are 225 lbs. for a 70-hp carbureted three-cylinder ($6,500), 444 lbs. fur a 150-hp EFI ($10,500) and 493 lbs. for a 225-hp V-6 EFI ($14,500). Weights (and retail prices) fur four-strokes are 356 lbs. for an 80-hp four-cylinder ($8,000), 398 lbs. for a 115-hp V-4 ($10,000) and 583 lbs. for the 225-hp ($17,400).
