Boat/US Magazine, Nov, 2000

Ruth Wood of the BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety received an award from the National Safe Boating Council for her role this year as chair of the 2000 North American Safe Boating Campaign which included Canada for the first time. Part of the campaign is National Safe Boating Week, and Canada has changed their dates for the week to coincide with the U.S. Wood was elected secretary of NSBC for the coming year.

Also at its annual meeting, the National Safe Boating Council elected William D. Selden its chairman for 2001. Selden, of Richmond, VA, represents the U.S. Power Squadrons on the Council and is a former chief commander. He's also served as chairman of the Coast Guard's National Boating Safety Advisory Committee and is a long-time member of BoatU.S. Vice chair is William D. Griswold of U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and treasurer is Ed Carter, boating law administrator for Tennessee.
