Pretty As a Picture

Boat/US Magazine, Nov, 2001

For centuries beloved family members, homes, pets and even race horses have been immortalized in paintings, some that have become classics, from Leonardo's Mona Lisa to Whistler's mother. So why not boats?

A BoatU.S. member in Aberdeen, Scotland, has added boat portraits to his range of offerings -- oil on canvas, custom painted by artists, based on a supplied photograph of the vessel. "Milo" Digby Jones, an avid sailor with a Swan 32, is owner of the Milo Gallery and is donating a 24 by 36 inch boat portrait valued at $795 to the lucky grand prize winner of the BoatU.S. OnLine Holiday Sweepstakes. (See ad, adjoining page.)

In addition, the Milo Gallery is also donating a portion of all its proceeds to the American Red Cross relief efforts following the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S.
