Estonia To Privatise Rail Network - Brief Article

THE Estonian Privatisation Agency has invited tenders for 66% of the shares in Estonian Railways (ER). The deadline for bids is July 17.
ER owns and manages Estonia's 800km 1520mm-gauge rail network and operates railfreight services. ER had an average of 4841 employees last year, and a net turnover of EKr 1.4 billion ($US 86.6 million). ER carried 31.6 million tonnes of freight, equating to 5.75 billion tonne-km, in 1998, Passenger services are provided by other operators.
