Manila to upgrade LRT Line 1 - Transit News

MANILA's Light Rail Transit Authority has invited companies to pre-qualify by May 8 for contracts to expand the capacity on LRT Line 1. The contracts, for phase II of the project, cover design, installation, testing and commissioning, as well as training of operations and maintenance staff.
The contracts consist of:
* 12 four-car LRVs
* upgrading the signalling to automatic train operation (ATO) and automatic train stop (ATS) to permit headways of 112 seconds
* telecommunications including radio, Scada, CCTV, fibre optics, and equipment for a proposed new operations control system
* magnetic ticket based fare collection equipment
* workshop equipment and modification to existing maintenance facilities, and
* civil works at stations and in the depot.
