Regular European railfreight services using Britain's new Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) got underway in April with intermodal export trains operated by English Welsh & Scottish Railway (EWS), which has a track access agreement with CTRL Ltd. The line is also used by Eurostar international high-speed trains and will also be used by local commuter trains.
