International Railway Journal, Sept, 2007

Central Japan Railway says a maglev linking Tokyo and Nagoya could be built for as little as Yen 5 trillion ($US 4.3 billion). Previous estimates placed the cost as high as Yen 9.9 trillion. The railway says it can afford to allocate Yen 300 billion a year to the project, but wants government assistance to fund it.
