Full-cock hysteria

Guns Magazine, Oct, 2004 by Brian J. Davlin

I'm writing to you as a footnote to Clint Smith's article (Ranging Shots, July 2004 GUNS). There's a photo of a man who might be a cop, with his "concealed" weapon exposed. Mr. Smith wrote, "If bolsters and clothes aren't selected with care, it doesn't take much to accidentally expose your 'concealed' firearm." Maybe he also should've mentioned it doesn't take much to shoot your rear-end off, if yon holster your weapon in the "full-cock" position! Safety first, right?

After carrying a 1911 for 30 years I have yet to "shoot" myself with a cocked and locked 1911. Over that time frame I've seen many folks shoot themselves with everything from revolvers to 1911s, many times in the leg or butt. Anyone who "fears" cocked and locked should carry, a Glock or samething. Apply LOGIC, and don't get in the water if you can't swim.
