Q: In August of 2006 I ordered a Stevens Favorite Model 30 in .22 Long Rifle for my grandson. When it arrived it was an octagon barrel. Stevens only put such barrels on their .17 and .22 Mags and I was wondering how many may have been put out with the octagon barrel in a .22 Long Rifle. The wholesaler rep says none.

A: Savage has discontinued both the 17 and .22 WMR versions of the Model 30 Favorite. Both current models in .22 LR, either a solid frame or a takedown, are offered only with a full octagonal barrel, rather than the 1/2 round, 1/2 octagon it was initially released with.
