Jerry Miculek, Smith & Wesson's professional shooter, was the overall winner of the 15th Annual International Revolver Championship (IRC), a shooting competition held last June at the Hogue Action Pistol Range in Morro Bay, California. Miculek won the Open Division title using a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 627.
The IRC featured 12 different stages and 193 competitors. Unlike previous matches, this year's championship featured the addition of swinging and no-shoot targets.
"The IRC Championship is one of the most difficult matches I compete in during the year" said Jerry Miculek. "Not only are you competing against the best shooters in the world, you also have to contend with the different stages of fire and the various target setups. Each shooter has to synchronize their shooting style with each stage and remain focused throughout the match."

Rob Leatham, who placed 1st in the Limited Division and 2nd overall, used a Performance Center Model 627, as did Vic Pickett who placed 2nd in the Open Division. Pickett's 2nd place finish was enough to earn him the 3rd overall. The Performance Center Model 627 is a stainless steel 8-shot revolver chambered for .357 Magnum with a 5" barrel.
"The IRC Championship is never the same from year to year," said Nelson Dymond, Match Director. "On another interesting note, virtually every competitor this year used a Smith & Wesson revolver. Not only were the top three overall winners shooting a Smith & Wesson revolver, but also the vast majority of class winners were using one as well."--Courtesy Blue Heron Communications
