Guns Magazine, Dec, 2004 by Glenn Barnes
I've always had the misfortune to learn everything the hard way. It's not that I don't listen to the wise counsel of those more knowledgeable than me ... well come to think of it, I guess it is. Anyway, decided it might be a good idea to retire the old relatively worthless rifle cradle I've used for years and invest in one known for its reliability, stableness and one more user-friendly. My friend Jim Gardner suggested I check out the new Sinclair/Decker rifle vise and, for once to my great fortune, I listened.
The new Sinclair/Decker rifle vise features a tank tough polyethylene base for rigidity, with two handy parts trays for convenience. This base is also resistant to chemical solvents and cleans up quickly and easily. (I discovered this bit of useful information after accidentally spilling a jar of Butch's Bore Shine.) The vise cleaned up nicely though my wife's carpet didn't.
Other features include a solid oak fore-end rest with padded leather upholstery, a steel powder-coated vise frame, leather-padded vise jaws, leather padded rest for supporting the bottom of your rifle and solid oak trimming surrounds the entire steel vise-frame. This is one classy looking rifle vise that's just as useful as it is pretty!
What can you do with your Sinclair/Decker Rifle Vise? Let's see. You can clean your rifle, install a new trigger, mount scope rings and optics, remove or install sights, mount swivels, bore sight your rifle and safely perform about a million other projects without worrying about scratching or damaging your firearm. I'm not exactly sure bow I managed without one all this time but, as they're built to last a lifetime, I guess I won't have to bother buying another.
