> More than 178,000 people hunted upland gamebirds in South Dakota, harvesting almost 1.85 million pheasants. According to South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department estimates, over 80,000 residents and 98,000 nonresidents purchased licenses. The department reports the 2006 season was the second-best in 40 years, topped only by the 2005 season, when approximately 100,000 more pheasants were bagged.--Courtesy NSSF
