Buy a gun for America

Guns Magazine, Jan, 2005 by Howard C. Mayberry, Jr.

Your "Buy a gun" idea is rather innovative and sure to set the teeth of the anti-Second Amendment folks on edge. Good! However--and this is not to be viewed as a carping--they preach to the choir. Realizing that this idea would present certain hurdles that publication in your own magazine does not, it would be nice to see the ads presented to the public at large in other popular magazines and newspapers. Certain teeth would not be on edge, but completely fall out. That's also good. The anti-Second Amendment crowd openly admits they want to make firearms socially unacceptable, the mark of an American version of the "untouchables" of India. These ads fly in the face of that idea as an open in-your-face challenge.

At the risk of sinning by offering amateur and unsolicited advice, I would suggest for the benefit of the uneducated and those of superficial thinking the addition of an easy to understand declaration such as: "It's not just for self protection. The Founding Fathers firmly believed that the surest guard against the establishment of tyranny in government is a well-armed people."
