Makes me wanna …

Guns Magazine, Jan, 2009 by N.D. Nelson

Conner, I'm sick and danged tired of you making me cry. No, that's a lie--I'm sick and danged proud of you for making me cry.

The Vet in my family is from a recent war, fought in the shifting sands ... my stepson Eddie. He's been safely returned now for a while, and I don't have to watch the evening news with quite the fervor I used to. But, when you wrote about your family's experiences, it brought those nervous nights right back to me and to my obligation to honor those who suffered, died and triumphed in wars now passed. Thank goodness his Mom and I didn't have to sit by the mailbox waiting for aged letters to arrive, and we owe our military commanders gratitude for providing Internet connections to our brave young men.

Thank you for sharing your family's war stories, and for sharing your own, in previous writings. I will honor you and yours along with mine this Veteran's Day.
