Short Shotshells

Guns Magazine, Feb, 2008 by Jeff John

Q: I'm having a heck of a time finding 2-1/2" shotshells in 20 gauge for my Remington Model 17. Can I use 2-3/4" shells instead?

A: No, absolutely not. It is extremely dangerous to fire 2-3/4" shells in a 2-1/2" chamber. One source you might try is Polywad (EO. Box 396, Roberta, GA 31078, 800/998-0669, www. polywad-shotgun-shells. com). In their Vintager line, Poywad offers 2" and 2-1/2" shells for 12-, 16- and 20-gauge guns. They are made as smokeless powder low-recoil, low-pressure loads for older guns. As always, they are only safe to shoot in guns safe to shoot.
