Stoney Point Universal Bore Guide - Quartermaster

Guns Magazine, March, 2004 by Glenn Barnes

It's a fact--most of us would much rather spend our time launching speeding bullets down range than stooped over an oil-stained workbench cleaning our rifles. I disdain this messy chore as much as the next shooter, but like everyone else. I realize the important role proper maintenance plays in accuracy.

It's also a fact that a rifle's chamber, bore or muzzle can be dam aged by discrepant cleaning practices; damaged to the point where those dime-sized groups that were once common from your rifle are now a thing of the past. Inserting a cleaning rod into the muzzle of out quality shooter is a sure-fired way to tarnish an accurate rifle's reputation, so that leaves us with one option--we sanitize our expensive investments through the chamber.

Protective bore guides have been around a long time mid have a well-deserved notoriety for preserving the integrity of a rifle's chamber and bore, which in tuna, perpetuates accuracy. Bore guides are nothing new and yon may conclude that there isn't much you can do to improve the products already available to us. Thai was the opinion I held until I discovered Stoney Point's new All-In-One Universal Bore Guide.

Crafted from lightweight, super-strong aluminum, then tempered and anodized, the Stoney Point A1Mn-One Universal Bore Guide is built to last a lifetime. Three tapered interchargeable chamber tips are included to snugly fit any bore size from .17 to .416. A threaded brass pin securely locks the action collar and bore guide into your firearm, preventing the guide from slipping when you insert a craning rod.

My favorite feature is the solvent port. No longer is it necessary to apply solvent In a patch, then insert the rod into a bore guide and watch as oil squeezes from the patch onto your hand, or all over your firearm. Simply insert your cleaning rod, with patch in place, into the bore guide, and then apply your favorite solvent. No more mess. I like that and I expect you will as well.
