The Magnificent Seven

The latest permutations of the Remington Model Seven, America's favorite carbine, consist of a brown laminated stock with a choice of a blued steel or all-stainless barreled action, Both guns will feature 20" barrels as standard, rather than the 18 1/2 spouts of the past.

That was my only criticism of the original Model Seven: I thought that 18 1/2" was too short a barrel. There is, after all, such a thing as going too far with a good thing, and a rifle with a spout shorter than 20" is a prime example. With 20" now the standard for all Model Sevens -- walnut, synthetic, youth, and custom shop variations -- the gun now looks better proportioned and handles just as well or better than before.
