New .38-55 brass cases

Guns Magazine, May, 2008

From Starline

Demand from competitive shooters has induced Starline Brass to produce new .38-55 regular and long rifle cases. The standard case is 2.08", while the long is 2.125". Diameter on both cases is the same and both cases are .002" thinner at the case mouth than the current Winchester case. The thinner case mouth enables the shooter to use large diameter bullets for better accuracy. Most rifles--both modern and original--will usually accept the longer case. However, shooters who are unsure of which length to use may contact Starline for samples to test. This vintage caliber is used in cowboy action shooting, as well as for long-range and hunting. Like the .45-70 and .40-65, the .38-55 also has crossover use in black powder and smokeless loads.
