I guess I'm on a flashlight kick. And why not, there are more terrific flashlights and weapon-mounted lights than you can shake a stick at. Editor Dave Douglas of American COP has this thing for flashlights and I guess it's contagious. I've caught the must-have-another-light bug. This latest one from Streamlight puts some serious power at your fingertips.
The Super Tac is the brightest LED tactical light Streamlight has produced. It's lightweight, powerful and incredibly versatile. The C4 technology and deep-dish parabolic reflector produce light three-times stronger than standard LEDs, delivering up to 135 lumens of some seriously intense light. The beam is nicely focused for long-range targeting, but still offers enough peripheral illumination to see what's going on around you.
So it's just a flashlight? Well, it's more than a "just" a flashlight. The Super Tac offers one-hand operation with a tail-cap push button and comes with a pretty handy holster. But that isn't the entire story of this light. Nope. This baby does double duty.
Add on adapters like the Long Gun Rail Mount, Remote Switch, and Vertical Grip with Rail and the Super Tac becomes a compact, lightweight weapon-mounted light.
OK, I admit, when I first looked at it, I wondered if it wasn't going to be too clunky, too heavy to hang on the end of a rifle. Happily, I was wrong. Editor Dave and I had this thing on the end of an AR in just a blink of an eye, and surprisingly (to me) I didn't even notice it was there. That is, I didn't notice it until I had the neat vertical grip in hand and lit up the down-range darkness with that bright white light.
Now we're talking some serious way cool factor!
