It is quite often painful, and at the very least discomforting, to delve deep within our own personality and discover a trait that is not exactly pleasing. The other day I was doing a bit of in-depth soul searching and realized that I possess an ostentatious, arrogant, snooty, and snobbish attitude. I also determined that this minor character flaw isn't all that bad, because it only surfaces when I'm contemplating purchasing some new "hide" for my handgun.
Quality revolvers designed primarily for serious field or hunting activities has been a lifelong passion of mine. To protect my investment while loafing in the outback, I demand the very best leather gear available. Nothing less than the best is even considered of given a second thought. My reason for this is based on years of testing, abusing, and often destroying holsters that couldn't quite cut the mustard. I'm tough on my gear and expect my outfit to be fit enough to handle the mistreatment.
My persistent search for the perfect field and hunting holster came to a screeching halt last year thanks to veteran holster maker Rick Bachman of Old West Reproductions. Located in Florence, Mont., Bachman has been crafting quality, period style holsters for the discriminating shooter since 1978.
In fact, he was the first "maker" to introduce authentic reproductions from original leather by such famous makers as E.L. Gallatin, EA. Menea, Main and Winchester and J.S. Collins. In the "cowboy" world, if you are wearing a fig embossed with "R.M. Bachman--Maker--Florence, Mt," it's clear to those around you that you take your action shooting seriously and place quality and authenticity above all else.
I have owned and used a Bachman cowboy rig for several years and have been quite happy with its function and style, so when I needed another field rig, I gave Rick a call, and placed an order for a flap holster for one of my Freedom Arras revolvers. Everything in life deserves the very best, especially your favorite shooter, and Old West Reproductions delivers just that. Give Rick a call and you will discover the "best" is more affordable than you may have thought.
