Guns Magazine, June, 2009 by Tom Carpenter
I have owned a few 1911 s in my day, but I have never owned one of what I consider a high dollar 1911. The main purpose of the 1911 is to be used as a tool for self defense. I bought a Taurus PT 1911 and paid $525 out the door. The pistol is very accurate, has never malfunctioned and comes standard with many features. Additionally, the pistol is guaranteed for life. Using the following analogy you can buy a Timex Ironman for around $35 or you can buy a Rolex Submariner for around $5,000. The basic function of each is to display the time, day and date with accuracy.

If you are considering purchasing a 1911 I would highly recommend you consider the Taurus PT 1911 and compare the features and price compared to other brands of 1911s costing much more. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised at the amount of money saved while at the same time purchasing a quality product with most of the features found in the high dollar 1911s.
