MARS

Guns Magazine, June, 2009 by Clint Smith

Some records of history declare MARS was the Roman God of War and represented many other important points of interest to people of the era. In a contemporary form, MARS is the moniker of the American Technologies Network Corporation's night vision weapons scopes and it winds up being a name well chosen for this piece of professional equipment.

Piece of equipment is a slight misnomer, because in reality the ATN folks actually have a MARS 4X as well as a MARS 6X rifle scope available in the MARS line. The ATN MARS are not small pieces of gear yet they are stoutly built scopes featuring solid glass and computer aided optical designs producing good light transmission and resolution. The field of view varies from the 4X to 6X version, as does the range of focus, but the minute of angle adjustments have a wide range working from 80 to 100 minutes of adjustment.

The system allows for the use of either one CR123 with a plug spacer and or one AA battery to power the scope taking in consideration supply shortages or limitation in available power sources.

The scope has the ability to side mount an IR illuminator on the scope body, and all adjustment knobs from windage and elevation to fine focus are all well placed and big enough to easily adjust the scope as might be required. The MARS 6X test scope had a red reticle with adjustable brightness. Should you have need or want to consider a night vision scope system for a rifle, it would be worth your time to look at and review the ATN MARS products.
