Remington Army

Guns Magazine, August, 2008 by Roger Stocum

My wife wanted to get me a new gun for Christmas but I had no idea what I wanted as I have enough guns now. However I never turn down another new gun. I decided to wait until after the holidays to get the gun and I'm glad I did.

When I got my February issue I saw Holt Bodinson's article on the Traditions Remington New Army .44 black powder revolver. After reading the article I was convinced that was the gun I wanted. I purchased the stainless steel target model, as it was the only one I could find. What a beautiful revolver.

As Holt stated in his review the fit and finish is excellent and it shoots like a dream. Even with my old eyes I kept all my shots in the 10-ring of a standard 25-yard target. And clean up was a snap with the orange goop that came with the gun. I have been shooting black powder gun many years and it was always a chore to clean.

This gun will become one of my favorite b/p guns thanks to Mr. Bodinson's review. This is my first Traditions gun and will more than likely be my only one. At age 73 with about 35 rifles, shotguns and handguns I don't see me buying many more.

Thank you for an excellent review on this revolver and a wonderful magazine. Keep up the good work
