Computer Technology Review, Oct, 2003
Arkeia has recently displayed a new online backup plug-in for Microsoft Exchange servers. Exchange servers are designed to manage high volumes of mail and secure archived data with minimal impact on users, while simultaneously protecting against loss of valuable information.
All aspects of mail server data--mail, notes, attachments, etc.--are protected by Arkeia's user-friendly GUI.
Plug-in features include:
* Uses native Exchange Server Backup API following strict Microsoft backup formats to insure precise integration.
* Backup types include Full, Incremental, Differential or Copy.
* Capability for 4 parallel backups, optimizing the backup speed for large servers with storage groups on different hard-drives.

* Online backup and restore to database level.
* Consistency checks during full and copy backups to insure accuracy on the fly.
* Page zeroing security factor that erases all data from deleted e-mail.
* Support of Site Replication Service that ensures compatibility between MS-Exchange 5.5 and 2000 servers.
* Backup of Key Management Server, allowing restoration of encrypted data.
* Equally efficient restore options include point in time recovery of stored data and last backup restore with transaction log "replay."
"Using a reliable, cost-efficient solution such as Arkeia on Linux is a serious alternative for companies looking to protect their Microsoft servers," said CEO Phil Roussel. "Our heterogeneous network backup solution for SMBs offers sophisticated enterprise-class backup and restore capabilities at a cost comparable to entry-level Windows-based software."
Installed on a Linux or Unix backup server, Arkeia can protect Windows machines, ranging from Windows NT4 to Windows 2003. Arkeia's Windows client also performs hot backup of Windows registries, active directories, certificates and event logs.
A demo version of Arkeia plug-in for MS-Exchange, compatible with Exchange 2000 and 2003, will be available for download early October.
