Learning from the experiences of consumers, we can develop technology that appeals to the masses, enabling network storage to become a commodity down the road. Drawing a parallel to the evolution of printing to network printers, the progression of smart storage solutions will be accomplished through centralized management of storage as a network resource. When data is always available and users can reliably access it from their desktop or notebook computer at any time, network storage will become a reality.
