Sun Microsystems, Inc. extended its Fibre Channel storage product family with the introduction of the Sun StorEdge A3500FC RAID storage array. The system provides customers with the Fibre Channel connectivity, performance, scalability, and flexibility that they need to meet expanding storage requirements spurred by the Internet revolution. It is list priced from $91,850 for an entry-level 91GB configuration to $559,450 for a full 4.3TB configuration.
"Internet-related businesses are deploying Fibre Channel to enable bandwidth and connection distances and to position themselves for Storage Area Networks as they begin to emerge," said Raj Das, director of product marketing for Sun Network Storage at Sun Microsystems. "The [storage] array is the newest addition to an end-to-end solutions approach that has made Sun a provider of Fibre Channel storage systems for the Unix market."
Now shipping, the array is backed by SunSpectrum enterprise-level support programs such as a two-year parts return warranty, free one-year on-site support, installation services, training, and capacity planning. Pricing and availability are subject to change without notice. The new product is available with 9GB, 18GB, or 36GB 10,000RPM disk drives. Upgrades are available for currently installed Sun StorEdge A3500 UltraSCSI arrays, providing customers with forward compatibility and investment protection.
