"Quantum" Leap Into SDLT Technology - StorageTek L700 and L180 tape libraries - Product Announcement

Computer Technology Review, July, 2001

Quantum's DLTtape Group announced that StorageTek is shipping its L-Series Libraries with Super DLTtape technology. The L-Series L700 and L180 Libraries are among the highest capacity libraries offered by StorageTek. The storage solution provider serves one of the largest installed bases of high-end DLTtape-based libraries in the industry.

Super DLTtape technology allows users of the family of L-Series libraries to scale the enterprise by migrating up to the next level of capacity and performance to meet both current and future growth requirements. These robust tape automation systems deliver asset protection and management to NT, Novell, Linux, and UNIX environments.

"Today's successful businesses depend on comprehensive storage solutions to back up, archive, and recover mission critical data," said Bob Abraham, president of Freeman Reports. "Leading-edge automated libraries combined with Super DLTtape technology provide solutions that deliver high performance, reliability, cost effectiveness, and scalability."

Over the past eleven years, DLTtape has established itself as the de facto standard in performance, reliability, and scalability in the tape storage market. Super DLTtape drives and media answer growing business needs for faster access to data, greater storage capacity, and reliable data protection. Super DLTtape products offer nearly triple the cartridge capacity, and almost double the data transfer rates, providing faster access to data and improved reliability and durability.
