Those of us at liberal arts colleges have the privilege of offering such an education and the tremendous satisfaction of helping to prepare eager, intelligent, and inquisitive world citizens who will make a difference in our complicated world.

Jamienne Studley is the former president of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She was recently named a scholar-in-residence at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and organization dedicated to improving teaching and learning in public schools, colleges, and universities.
