Invest in your future
Careers and Colleges, Nov-Dec, 2004 by Paul McKeefry
"Those who invest in their futures through education are taking the long view, realizing that any sacrifice made today are for the great reward of tomorrow."
Those are the words of former president Bill Clinton from "Paying for College Without Going Broke" (Princeton Review). He makes a good point. Finding money to pay for college can be a great sacrifice for many families--scraping together the dollars, maybe doing without a trip or not buying that new car.
This issue of CAREERS & COLLEGES is designed to help ease some of the financial burden. We show you all the sources of aid and tell you how to apply for funds and win scholarships. We spent time talking with financial aid administrators to give you a better understanding of how the aid process works, and we interviewed college students who told us exactly how they are paying for school. The more informed you are the more likely you are to find helpful resources. That's why we recommend you fill out the survey card opposite page 24. It gives you the chance to receive more info on colleges, financing, and educational opportunities. Also, visit www.CareersAndColleges.com and find out how you can win $10,000.
Give this issue a close read, use our worksheets, and you should be well on your way to finding more funding. It's definitely a smart investment of your time.
