I'd walk a mile to smoke a camel - Industry Insider

American Handgunner,  May, 2002  by Cameron Hopkins

Prompted by a complaint from an anti-gun group, the national media got itself in a lather recently over Ithaca naming a shotgun the "Homeland Security Model." The news mogols accused Ithaca of exploiting the 9-11 attack for profit.

Nonsense, replied the gun company, the model was simply in reponse to demand from its dealers for a defensive shotgun.

Meanwhile, the instigator behind it all--the notoriously anti-gun Violence Policy Center--has created a new firearms industry watchdog group called the Gun Industry Watch to snoop on, among other things, what's said in gun magazines.

The group also became agitated over the name "Turban Chaser" for a .50 BMG rifle from a company called Tromix. The hand-wringers accused Tromix of a "disgusting display of bigotry."

We wonder if the do-gooders would take a look at the positive contributions of the firearms industry occasionally--like who do they think manufactured the guns on the hips of the policemen who protect them?
