Topic: RSS FeedAnd if that's not enough - Pistolsmithing
American Handgunner, Sept-Oct, 2002 by Alex Hamilton
In review, proper headspace, an aligned cylinder, correct diameter throat, an 11 degree forcing cone, a correct specification bore and a perfect crown should give you those nice little groups way out to 50 yards and beyond. Quality sights, a good action/trigger job, and quality ammunition round out the revolver accuracy package.
What's it going to cost you to get your Ruger or Smith & Wesson to shoot? If there are no major flaws like excessive cylinder end-play or headspace, the following will give you an idea. $95 to $125 for an action job, around $75 to regulate the fixed sights on a single action, $85 to have a Bowen adjustable sight replace the Ruger Blackhawk rear sight and $20 for fifty rounds of quality ammunition to sight it all -- all this should get the ball rolling in the right direction. Is it worth it? All I can say is that the pride of having a tack-driver knows no bounds.
