American Handgunner, Sept-Oct, 2004 by Robert Cowles
Thanks to you I have a new, WWII GI M-1911 A-1, from Springfield Armory. Your "Buy A Gun" editorial was great (Handgunner July/Aug 2004)! It's my first 1911, though probably not my last. You think you could print a "correction" that says something like, "Mr. Barr said we should buy a new gun every month if we want G.W. to win the next election," or something to that effect? If you can't take that kind of editorial license I understand, but perhaps you could find someone with, how should I put this, a softer moral code, to fill in for you. Just for the "correction" part. I'll bet John Connor would be willing to help fill the gun safes of America; sort of a moral "take one for the team" if you will. Either way, thank you for the help in getting the new 1911 and for the continued great magazine. And while we're at it, a big thanks should be extended to Bob Barr, not only for the new gun, but for his tireless efforts to our cause.

Bob, how silly of me, I had actually meant to say: "Buy at least one gun a month" to assure G.W. stays in office. You'd better go out now and rectify the situation. And I've gotta' run ... the gun store closes pretty soon and I'm already one month behind myself! Editor
