20 HP 1911 fixer-upper

American Handgunner, Sept-Oct, 2004

Ed Brown. of Ed Brown Products fame, has installed a giant Haas horizontal machining center in his shop. We have no idea exactly what it does. but Ed says, "It will help us to keep up with the demand with our rapidly growing line of high-grade 1911s." Evidently, in the "old days" Ed used a "four-axis vertical machining center" and did frames four at a time.

With the new "20 HP" (see the photo) Haas, Ed has bumped up the horsepower and can now manage 32 frames and still keep things within a gnat's arse of perfect. And a gnat's arse is pretty small, if you get our drift. Check out what Ed does at: www.edbrown.com and say hi from us.
