Tool logic: need a light?

American Handgunner,  March-April, 2005  by Kim Terlecky

When it comes to interesting Gizmos, Tool Logic produces some fine ones. Tool Logic's Revolutionary SL Series knives are ultra-light, rugged and multi-functional. The SL1 Light is made from 420J2 stainless Zytel, with a razor sharp, half-serrated, 3" blade. It can be operated one handed and features a liner-type lock. Also included on this neat little knife is a waterproof, white LED flashlight. The LED module features a PBC switch and is powered by four 1.5 volt button cell batteries. The whole knife weighs in at about 2.6 ounces--that's it!

The SL3 Fire is something you'd definitely want to keep with you if you were ever on a camping trip and you didn't have matches. The SL3 features The FireSteel, which is a wet/dry magnesium alloy firestarter. The 3", half-serrated blade on the SL3 features a special notch for obtaining maximum sparks from the firestarter. The body is made of the same 420J2 stainless Zytel and includes a liner-type lock, the whole package weighing in at 2.7oz.

All SL Models feature a blackened stainless steel belt/pocket clip and a loud emergency whistle (just in case you need someone to find you while you're gallivanting through the woods). Also included in the SL line are the SL1Mini Light and the SL2 Water. My personal thoughts on the SL Series, "Duh! Why didn't I think of that!" I mean, seriously, who wouldn't want a knife with a firestarter on it?
