Faster-blaster

American Handgunner,  March-April, 2005

S&W couldn't leave it alone. Now the big X-Frame .500 S&W Magnum is available in a fancy new cartridge--the .460 XVR (extreme velocity revolver!). Basically a .500 chambered for the new round, the stats for the revolver remain essentially the same. But ... the new round clocks around 2,300 fps with bullet weights in the 300 grain range (or bigger).

The load is approximate, since we're basically stealing info we got at a recent show. Now, what's next--a .360 S&W Magnum pushing a 160 at 3,000 fps? Only kidding. But hey, you never know these days.
