Men in nylons

American Handgunner, March-April, 2006 by Beatrice B. Lund, John Calkins

My husband pointed out the "This Just Ain't Right" item to me (Insider, Jan/Feb 2006). You can say that again. I know we're all supposed to be tolerant of other people's idiosyncrasies, but I'm sorry, I draw the line at a cross-dresser--I think that's what they're called--wearing women's pantyhose or stockings, even if it does keep them warm while hunting. Eeuw ... In the words of the inimitable Dorothy Parker, "I may fwow up."

Well, I have to agree the thigh-high male pantyhose "just ain't right," as you said. However, some of us have long known that very lightweight silk long johns are "just right" under jeans or camo BDU trousers when it's cold early and warm later, such as in Arizona's winter handgun javelina seasons. But, I'm curious as to which staffer you got to model the hosiery. I've pretty much ruled out Connor--bull neck doesn't match svelte thighs--never mind attitudinal issues. Jones, Venturino, Taffin and Petty are out--they could model Arctic wear or sausage casings, but not hosiery. I have no idea what Snyder looks like, but suppose his self-perception would not permit this. Clint Smith is about the right height and build, but ... no. Mas, no way. Mine, among your readers' enquiring minds want to know.

John, there're some things you just don't want to know for sure. Trust me on this one. Editor
