Cops and CCW reform

American Handgunner, Jan-Feb, 2007 by Massad Ayoob

In July 2006, an armed citizen called the police to report a man acting strangely in the hamlet of Manley Hot Springs, Alaska, and a lone trooper was dispatched. When he approached, the suspect went for a gun, and the armed citizen who had called shot and killed the offender, saving the lawman's life.

It wasn't the first time an armed citizen's gun had kept a cop from being murdered, and it's safe to say it won't be the last time. Situations like this should be reason enough for cops to support shall-issue CCW legislation for the law-abiding public. But the fact is, there are more reasons than that.
