Personal defense

American Handgunner,  July-August, 2008  by P. Wopshall

A perfect score and standing ovation for your first time at the "firing line" with the American Handgunner Personal Defense Special Edition on the newsstands. If I had to pick Just One issue of any "gun" magazine to read, reread, keep, share with others, pass along to friends, etc., from the stacks of magazines in my office--this would be the one.

Of particular interest is the applicability to "common" life. I feel the issue's main target readership was well taken care of. The focus was on defense of self, family and loved ones in the daily routine of life. The magazine put actions, beliefs and common sense in front of guns, guns, guns, and more guns that so commonly dominate other attempts I've seen to cover similar topics.

Three articles are so succinct I would like to share them in entirety or excerpts from them. The three articles are "Why We Carry" by Massad Ayoob, "Handgun Lights and Lasers" by John Connor and "After the Shooting" by Jeremy Clough. How do I go about obtaining permission to properly share these articles with others?

We confess we're proud of the quick acceptance of that special edition. It seems editor Sammy Reese has struck a chord with that topic. Regarding sharing the articles, of course we'd like your friends to have their own copy of the Personal Defense Special Edition (available at www.americanhandgunner.com by clicking on the big banner at the top) but if you'd like to share those articles with your gun club by posting them, or a friend or neighbor, go ahead and make a copy of them. We don't mind helping to keep people safe, but also need to protect our copyrights, I'm sure you understand. Editor
