Met Connor

American Handgunner, July-August, 2008 by J.J. Miller

I was on a plane in the business section last week and as I got settled in I started looking around at my fellow passengers. In amongst the usual suits tied to the latest new fangled phone/PDA/laptop combo-with-earpiece I noticed a rather large muscular fellow dressed in jeans. He almost didn't fit the seat. Then I noticed his traveling companion. She was a strikingly beautiful woman with red hair. I got to thinking about the magazine I had in my carry on, an issue of Handgunner. I thought, "Could that be Conner and Memsaab?"

After about an hour I screwed up the courage to approach the guy and asked "Are you Mr. Conner?" He sized me up in about half a second, realized I was not a threat and said "Yep." I stuck out my hand and introduced myself and was in turn introduced Mrs. Conner. We struck up a conversation and he turned out to be a pretty nice fellow. He was traveling east to a well known training facility to teach some classes.

I went back to my seat and thought wow--I finally met Conner, and how cool is that? One thing is for sure though, after shaking his hand and meeting him in person I'm glad he's on our side.
